MARIA SHARAPOVA’S 2011 FRENCH OPEN COLLECTION BY NIKE

words // Brandon Richard

In January of last year, Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova signed an 8-year, $70 million dollar contract extension with Nike, dwarfing Venus Williams’ female endorsement record of $43 million with Reebok. Nike and Maria hopes that deal pays off later this month at Roland Garros, where Sharapova looks to complete the career Grand Slam by winning her first French Open title. For the occasion, Nike created an all-new collection of apparel and footwear for Maria to wear during the tournament.

Starting off Maria’s collection is the Maria Line 9 Women’s Tennis Dress. Made with Nike’s Dri-FIT material, the dress also features a micro-mesh layered jersey skirt, cut-away design on the back for ventilation and a built in bra.

Continuing, you have the Maria Sharapova Statement Tennis Tank Top paired with her signature Ace Women’s Tennis Skirt. Both items are also made with Dri-FIT material for enhanced moisture wick, ventilation, flexibility and comfort.

Completing Maria’s French Open look is a White/Gridiron-Lemon Frost-Bronze of her Lunar Speed 3 Women’s Tennis Shoe. The shoe features Flywire support panels, Lunarlon cushioning, an extended lacing system and durable rubber outsole.

All items from the 2011 French Open Maria Sharapova Collection can be purchased at NikeStore today.
